Thordale & Son are your trusted partner for top-quality double glazing solutions in Yorkshire. Windows in your home provide light, insulation & security, that’s why our double glazing solutions are designed to enhance your living spaces in every way we possibly can.
Double glazing isn't just about energy efficiency and insulation, it also plays a vital role in bolstering the security of your home. Industry-recognised tests and accreditations underscore the effectiveness of double glazing in safeguarding your property.
PAS24 Certification: One of the most esteemed certifications in the UK is the PAS24:2016 standard. Double glazing systems undergo rigorous testing to meet this benchmark. PAS24-certified windows and doors must withstand various intrusion attempts, including physical attacks like crowbar and screwdriver attacks. These tests confirm that double glazing can effectively deter potential burglars. You can learn more about PAS24 and its significance in home security by visiting the Secured by Design website.
Secured by Design (SBD): The Secured by Design initiative is backed by UK police forces and focuses on crime prevention through innovative design. Double glazing products that bear the SBD logo adhere to stringent security standards. They offer robust protection against forced entry, promoting peace of mind for homeowners.
Enhanced Locking Mechanisms: All our double glazing products feature advanced locking systems, such as multipoint locks. These mechanisms exceed industry standards, further fortifying your home against intruders.
With Thordale & Son, you can rest assured that your windows are fortified with some of the most dependable security solutions on the market!
Double glazing stands as a beacon of energy efficiency, offering a multitude of advantages supported by industry-recognised tests and accreditations. All of our double glazing products are rigorously tested and certified for their energy performance. The Window Energy Rating (WER) and British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC) certifications are industry-recognised measures that assess a window's thermal efficiency.
These certifications consider factors such as U-values and solar heat gain, providing a comprehensive overview of a window's energy-saving capabilities. To gain a deeper understanding of these certifications and their implications for your home's energy efficiency, you can explore resources on the BFRC website, a trusted source for energy performance ratings.

"Called Thordale & son last minute Sunday afternoon for gutter/downpipe problem from neighbours roofing job (not Thordale and sons). The gutting was heavily overflowing onto our bay window causing a leak onto the house... The gent solved the problem straight away (couldn't believe I didn't think of it!). Cleared the down pipe and fixed gutting in minutes, he only wanted a few quid even though we called him in a Sunday!? He was down to earth and very genuine. Definitely recommend to anyone for any repairs or roofing jobs."
